Newen Afrobeat is a musical experience where music is a tool for social change. Arising from Fela Kuti’s legacy, Newen integrates the cultures of Latin America and Africa. ‘Chaltumay’ is taken from ‘Curiche’, the band's second album. ‘Curiche’, from Mapundungun root, refers to the blackness annulled for centuries in Chile. Built through the rhythmic power of tribal music, funk meandering and jazz improvisation.
