Etienne de la Sayette - Loulou

from Global Riddims Volume 3 by NYP Records

/

about

Etienne De La Sayette is a French musician, composer and producer that has been over the last 15 years the driving force behind bands like Frix, Baeshi Bang, and the Ethio-jazz band Akalé Wubé. That was clearly not enough for this musical activist, and he started writing more music in moments of calm between concerts and recordings. That resulted end 2016 to his first amazing solo-album ‘Maputo Queens’. ‘Kogubi’ follows up ‘Maputo Queens’ and is another wonderful masterpiece. All songs are written, performed and produced by Etienne De La Sayette (with some prominent guests performance from Lansiné Diabaté, Erik Aliana, drummer Stefan Lucchini and Chicago MC Racecar). The song ‘Loulou” is a ‘chamber music afrobeat’ experiment with bits of Steve Reich inside.
